Start with personal history

It is very important to take a detailed medical history at the first visit in order to determine presence of GDM risk factors and co-existing pathology. Early suspicion and diagnosis lead to favorable maternal and neonatal outcomes. 

Data that has to be recorded is:

  • R 1.8 Age, DM type and duration 
  • R 1.3, R 1.7, R 1.9, R 5.1, R 5.2 Medications
  • R 1.5 Retinopathy
  • R 1.6 Renal dysfunction
  • R 1.7 Hypertension
  • R 1.9 Dyslipidemia
  • R 1.10 Thyroid function
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOs)
  • Obstetric history (history of GDM in previous pregnancy, macrosomic baby or unexplained stillbirth)
