What should Anna do?Anna is a 58year old woman with a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in her right hip. She experiences moderate to severe pain and difficulty walking. Due to her pain she has limited her daily activities and is afraid to do even the simplest of tasks in fear of hurting herself and of feeling more pain. She is in continuous stress, catastrophizes about everything. She shares some of her thoughts with her husband and one of her closest friends to ask for their support and advice. Her husband says that a colleague at work had chronic pain and has done Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which he found quite helpfull. He says maybe it's worth looking into that. On the other hand, her friend says she read on a facebook group about some women with similar problems using anti-anxiety medication that helped them and suggests that Anna should buy some from the pharmacy. |
