Diffusion

Returning back home, you look up diffusion and osmosis on the internet…

Definitions:

Diffusion is a process where molecules move from a high concentration to a low concentration in a given area until equilibrium is reached.

Osmosis is a process where molecules of a solvent, for example water molecules, move from a solution of high concentration of water molecules to a solution of low concentration of water molecules via a semipermeable membrane.

Looking at the definitions you realize that what you are describing is a type of diffusion but because it involves water molecules, it has a different name.
