Dr. Demetriou walks over to you and asks you to interpret the results of the experiment. You explain that the absence of a band signifies a mouse that does not carry the transgene. You also explain that band widths can vary for mice carrying the transgene. Your supervisor is very pleased that you have successfully completed your first PCR experiment and have correctly identified the mouse that does not carry the transgene. You are very excited to proceed with your experiments to determine the effect of noveltin on cardiac function in healthy mice and in mice with heart failure.
