Patient consumes more than 5 cups of coffee daily

Your patient says that he consumes more that 5 cups of coffee daily. He likes it, on one hand, and he needs it to stay awake and energetic. He is always tired and feeling a high level of fatigue because he doesnot sleep well at night. So he tries to drink coffee to keep himself awake during the day.

You see, by reviewing your patients' medical history, his lab results and the overview of what his lifestyle choices are, that he needs to adjust some things in order to improve his daily pain management. For example, coffee needs to be reduced by at least 2 or 3 cups so they can be beneficial and not harmful. Furthermore, your patient says he feels depressed and experiences anxiety. Such a high coffee intake might be contributing to his anxiety experience and even to his difficulties falling or staying asleep. So, you suggest this adjustment and give further info on the subject to your patient.
