Patient is referred to a cardiologist for further work up

In patients surviving acute pulmonary embolism and in which chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is suspected, the

diagnosis of the latter is based on findings obtained after at least 3 months of effective anticoagulation, in order to discriminate this

condition from ‘sub-acute’ PE.

A premature evaluation may lead to overdiagnosis of CTEPH.

This is a wrong response that could lead to potentially harmful results to the health.
