Patient is referred to a cardiologist for further work upIn patients surviving acute pulmonary embolism and in which chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is suspected, the diagnosis of the latter is based on findings obtained after at least 3 months of effective anticoagulation, in order to discriminate this condition from ‘sub-acute’ PE. A premature evaluation may lead to overdiagnosis of CTEPH.
