Nebulised Adrenaline

You decide to give some more nebulised adrenaline. Jack again dislikes the mask and cries during the time he is breathing the nebulized medicine.

He rapidly improves again, but not as much as before. Afterwards, he is reassessed:

HR 185/min, RR 45/min, T 37.2 C, SaO2 94% in Oxygen.

His chest recession is now moderate and it is inspiratory noise is better, although still easy to hear.

One hour later he is much worse, and desaturated in face mask oxygen. His breathing is now labored.

You put out a “crash call” and the paediatric arrest team arrive. The team site a cannula and intubate Jack because of his severe airway obstruction. He is taken to PICU.
