Start with personal history

It is important to take a detailed medical history in any woman of reproductive age, who is diagnosed with DM and considers conception. In case of co-existing pathology, specific management must be scheduled on time. This is essential, as early treatment leads to less complications before and during pregnancy, as well as better perinatal outcomes.

Data that has to be recorded includes:

  • R 1.8 Age, DM type and duration
  • R 1.3, R 1.7, R 1.9 Medications
  • R 1.5 Retinopathy
  • R 1.6 Renal dysfunction
  • R 1.7 Hypertension
  • R 1.9 Dyslipidemia
  • R 1.10 Thyroid function
