Hyoscine

You prescribe hyoscine. An hour later, you are paged to see Andrew. The nurse informs you that Andrew seems to have slipped into a coma. The medical team is unable to do anything further for Andrew. You think it is best that you personally inform his mother of her son's death.

You reflect on the events of the evening and realize that an anti-cholinergic is not indicated for treatment of hepatic encephalopathy. In fact, anti-cholinergics may exacerbate symptoms associated with hepatic encephalopathy.
