While ipratropium can reduce bronchoconstriction, it does not address the underlying inflammation or asthma triggers specific to Amy's situation (e.g., allergens, exercise, or occupational triggers). Furthermore, it offers no relief for her comorbid allergic rhinitis symptoms. Ipratropium may be considered as add-on therapy in severe, chronic asthma and it is particularly effective at treating asthma-induced cough, however there is a better drug for Amy at this point.
