Indeed, PPIs are very effective in preventing incidents such as that experienced by Mr. Connor. These are generally the drugs of choice to prevent NSAID-related eventualities on the GI tract. 

However, given Mr. Mason's previous fractures, perhaps this is not the best drug for him, at least until the risk of fractures and ongoing osteoporosis investigations are completed. Furthermore, Dr. Vasiliou referred specifically to a drug that mimics the actions of prostaglandins.
