3month follow up visitYou see your patient after 3months. He's been to a rheumatologist. He suggested intraarticular injections for both his knees. They did the injections and he now has mild to severe pain only a few days per month. For those days he uses either NSAIDs or acetaminophen. You order a follow up set of labs, to check his liver enzymes. You do a follow clinical exam and find out that your patient has a better range of motion and less dullness in his knees. He says his sleep is better, not perfect thought. On his bad days, he still has trouble falling or staying asleep because of the pain. You ask a couple more questions about the use of alcohol, benzodiazepines and caffeine to estimate the adjustment your patient has already done. You realize that he's done well, he even uses an mHealth application although he's never contacted you through it. You make a point on discusssing once more about the use of pain medication, given your patients' previous history and the incidence of his misusing the pain medication. You say that you will be expecting him to check up on his labs. |
