Tell the patient you are about to start the procedure
Place your finger on the anus so that it point posteriorly
Sweep the finger anti-clockwise
Sweep the finger both clockwise and anti-clockwise
Inform the patient it might be a painful procedure
Ask your patient to squeeze your finger while entering teh area
Examine the glove for fucus or blood
Sweep the finger clockwise
