Lansoprazole (PP), metronidazole (nitroimidazole antibiotic), and tetracycline

While lansoprazole, metronidazole, and tetracycline represent drugs used in H.pylori eradication, their use as 'triple therapy' is clinically inappropriate. Attempting a triple regimen with these specific agents results in unacceptably low eradication rates, exposes the patient to unnecessary drug toxicities, and accelerates antibiotic resistance. If a standard triple therapy is preferred, guidelines dictate another drug regimen. Please re-consider your choice.

  • If you use antacids, it is better to take them at least two hours apart of taking any other medication
