Talk about sleep quality

You explain to your patient that chronic pain might be the reason he is experiencing late night awakening, difficulties in falling asleep again and poor sleep quality. This is very important for his pain levels, his pain management and his mood, also. So you suggest that he should try and have a routing before his bedtime, try some relaxation techniques and might do some therapy (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an approach with well established results for chronic pain management).

You also explain that his lifestyle choices might be affecting his nightime routince. For example, coffee consumption, eating a heavy dinner late at night, having his phone by his night stand (the blue light of mobiles are know to affect our nightly routine).

  • 3month follow up visit
  • Discuss with the patient the new realities
