Stop taking the medication immediately

Anna is afraid she might make her situation even worse. She decides to stop her medication immediately.

The next morning she feels weird, starts having heart palpitations and becomes irritable and sweaty. Her husband is really concerned and takes to the Emergency.

The doctors there take a brief medical history, order some lab tests and do a cardio exam. Finally, after a couple of hours they come back with the results and inform her that she is experiencing symptoms of abruptly discontinuing her anti-anxiety medication. This type of medicines should be stopped in a more gradual way, under a doctor's supervision.

Anna admits that this was not the way she was using her medication. She says she started taking them on her own and know understands that this was not a good decision.
