"Absolutely," Dr. Smith says. "First, always use personal protective equipment—gloves and goggles, especially if you're handling chemicals or biological samples. If the device uses UV light, never stare into the source. Also, ensure you handle cuvettes conscientiously, as broken glass can be hazardous. Lastly, never force the lid shut if the cuvette doesn’t fit properly, and always dispose of any unused or contaminated solutions according to lab procedures."

At that, Emma straightens up and checks the solvent blank. "Got it! Thank you for clarifying, Dr. Smith. I'll make sure I follow these steps and keep safety in mind."

Dr. Smith pats the spectrophotometer affectionately. "Treat this instrument with care, and it’ll give you reliable data for all sorts of experiments—from algae growth studies to enzymatic assays. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!"
