You: Dr. Spencer, I have a question. I remember that there are various growth media that can be used for microbial culture and growth for liquid cultures and for agar plates. Which one should we be using today?

Dr. Spencer: That’s a great question; the choice of the appropriate medium will affect results. Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB), Lysogeny Broth (LB), MacConkey (MAC) and Mannitol Salt (MSA) are commonly used for different indications.

Which one is most appropriate in this case?

  • EMB
  • LB
  • MSA
  • MAC
