Casein is the substrate and amino acids are the products

Casein is of course an important nutrient that we get in several food products, primarily derived from milk. Casein is a protein and thus it is broken down by different proteases to amino acids. The digestion of casein begins in the stomach, where it is acted upon by the enzyme pepsin, and continues in the small intestine with the help of pancreatic proteases. The enzyme used in this experiment is amylase. Do you remember what type of biomolecule is broken down by this important enzyme? Please reconsider your answer.
